Upcoming Conventions & Markets

We’re very nearly into April, and I have a bunch of events scheduled for the year!

Eastercon 2026 – 3rd April to 6th April in Birmingham

Leeds Sex, Kink, & Fetish Market – 12th April at The Nests in Leeds

Once Upon A Tyne – 26th – 27th September in Newcastle

Bath Monster Market – 18th October in Bath

I will edit these into my events calendar soon.

If I can, I do want to do FantasyCon and BristolCon, which are in Glasgow and Bristol respectively, but they’re both in October, and depending on the weather and my health in October I’m not sure how up I’ll be to that much travelling, assuming we can afford to do all the events.

I have been writing a bunch of serial stuff recently, going with Godfrey Digbett and then Rescue Dogs, and I have been writing a LOT of Unprofessional Development recently, and I am about 110k into it. I’m finishing up this Trinity Santos whump stuff soon and having Robby semi-retire, and then I’m gonna be doing some more fun fucked-up BDSM stuff with Robby, Jack, and Dennis.

My health has not been excellent of late, but it’s warm enough now that I’m starting to get some more exercise in and I’m feeling a bit better, and my GP is doubling my Venlafaxine dosage, which is hopefully gonna help.

EasterCon

For EasterCon, I’m gonna be there for the whole weekend – you can get day tickets, or you can get virtual tickets. Lorenzo and I will have a table – I’ll have a bunch of books for sale, zines, badges, and we also have a load of boardgames that we’re clearing out and we’ll be selling secondhand!

I’m docketed for one presentation and three talks, which are as follows:

Parasocial Relationships: Managing Boundaries as a Creator

Gladstone-Churchill • Writing • Single Speaker/Lecture • Sun 16:30–17:30

Followers Aren’t Friends: Exploring developing expectations for creators in the age of social media and what feels like constant expectations of accessibility. Parasocial relationships – one-sided relationships that are imagined as mutual – can be a wonderful stress relief, indulging in favourite creators and famous people, but what about the other side? What are our responsibilities as creators – are we held to unfair expectations? How do we set healthy boundaries with followers and fans? How do we protect our mental health? Is it worth it?

The politics of Romantasy: who gets a happy ending?

Sandringham • Literature • Panel • Sun 18:00–19:00

Who gets a happy ending? The genre is full of beautiful straight white people and good girls with bad boys. What behaviour is rewarded, and what does this say about the societies portrayed? Are the bad guys let off if they’re hot enough? And are the queer people and POC just in support roles?

You Have No Power Over Me: a retrospective on Labyrinth

Pavilion • Film & TV • Panel • Sun 19:30–20:30

Beloved by weird kids of all ages, and the fuel for many sexual awakenings, the film Labyrinth is 40 years old this year. Our panel revisits the classic film Labyrinth and discusses its continuing appeal, and the 1980s dark fantasy film boom.

Folklore, Cultures, and the Modern Fantastic: adapting myth

Sandringham • Literature • Panel • Mon 13:30–14:30

Folklores and myths are deeply rooted cultural properties. The panel look at how writers and artists have used and misused folklores and myths, and discuss good and bad practice.
