Sticky Post: Where Do I Start Reading?
I’ve just found your work and there’s a lot of it, where do I start? Welcome to my website! First off, my name is Johannes (Yo-Han-Ehz) T. Evans. I’m a gay, disabled, transgender man originally from Chepstow in the South of Wales, and I now live in Bradford in West Yorkshire, though for several years before now I lived in Galway, in the west of the Irish Republic. I’ve been writing for years, and you might actually already be familiar with my work – I’ve been on Tumblr under various URLs (before using my own name, JohannesTEvans, I was at…

Final chapter! Cecil and Valorous go to dinner with Noble and Jack. A few months into their relationship, Cecil finally convinces Valorous to see a therapist, on the condition that Cecil attend one himself. Previous Chapter Full Chapter Directory For the better part of six weeks, Valorous had spent a lot of time on buses and trains. It was a shame not to have the novelty of…

Daniel Kahn’s Der Zinger fun Noyt from Word Beggar (2021): Yiddish Lyrics & Vocabulary
Something a bit different – just some lyrics in transliteration and in Yiddish side by side, I’m going to be doing a series of these throughout Daniel Kahn’s discography and possibly a few other Yiddish artists as part of an aid with my Yiddish studies. Even if you have no interest in Yiddish, you might still enjoy checking these out – there’s a lot of really great leftist poetry in Kahn’s body of work, both original and in translation from older Jewish artists, and I love his work to bits. Kahn is a klezmer artist – klemzer is a traditional…

Where I Would Recommend Starting Star Trek as a Newbie
It depends on how much you enjoy and gel with older media. I grew up on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, then went back and watched the original, as well as seeing the 2009 film went it came out. I personally think that one of those three is the best place to start as a new fan – The Original Series (3 seasons, 1966-69, later they got movies as well), The Next Generation (7 seasons, 1987-1994, also movies), and then Star Trek (2009). 2009 I only mention basically if you’re trying to fishhook less easily convinced people into…

So, I’ve Been Hanging Out In Graveyards A Lot Recently
About two months ago, somebody on Tumblr posted a tag game about what people’s great grandfathers did for a living – I knew that two had been farmers and that one had been in the RAF, but I didn’t know about the other one, and on a whim, I started building my family tree again. I did a course on how to do it when I was fifteen or so – nearly fifteen years ago now! – at my local library, and I’m a lot better at collating information and data, as well as having a far greater attention span,…

Queer Affaire in York tomorrow!
Hello, hello! If you’re Yorkshire way, I will be at Queer Affaire in York tomorrow afternoon – I shall mainly have paperbacks and badges on sale, and Spark is a really nice venue, it’s very near to the Georgian house museum. I know a few other vendors at this event and I’m really excited about it – Spark is a nice venue that I’ve been to for other events, and if you haven’t been to York before or lately, it’s a great little town, lots of antique shops and bookshops and museums, and as well as this event running, there’s…

My Birthday & Power of Pride Itch Bundles
Hello, it was of course my birthday on Saturday, May 30th, and thank you very kindly for the well wishes. I would love to say that I have only been working on Natural Recovery recently because I have been gallivanting about enjoying my birthday week, but unfortunately what is actually the case is that I have largely been quite sick and mostly going between bed, coughing miserably, and back to bed again. A lot of people have sent asks to my Tumblr and I’ve answered them over the past few days and still have a few more to answer, but…

Natural Recovery: Part Four

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Avi gets through a stack of three books on Friday afternoon. Usually, once the sun sets, he lingers…

Most Rewatched Movies by Tumblr Users
Hello, all! First, a new threadfic for you, here on Bluesky: As for my lack of regular stuff at the moment, I am currently super exhausted and very miserable about it. I am at the moment two weeks late on what should be a 12-weekly shot of my testosterone because my GP refuses to administer it and I have to get it done privately, which is proving more annoying than one would hope. Low T is no joke, especially given that the sunshine and my higher meds dose have been helping me so much in general, it’s maddening to basically…

EasterCon 2026: Iridescence
I have been attending different conventions on and off for a little over a decade now – comic cons, Star Trek conventions, literary conventions like EasterCon, WorldCon, BristolCon, smaller lit cons like TeratoCon, and honestly, I think this is the best con experience I’ve had in all that time. Made a lot of new friends and connected with con regulars, had great fun watching panels and being on them, and I’m very excited indeed to go back through and listen to panels I wasn’t able to attend through the course of the con. It wasn’t our first time at the…

Fantasy Serial. The team enter the Silent Caverns. Godfrey Digbett III, to his anxiety and chagrin, is drafted into a crew of adventurers delving into an ancient elvish catacomb, which is not so silent, nor so dead, as it appears from the outside. Cleric to the minor god Halloran, he stands most of all for servants and their service, and must be a good servant himself to the Oghmian religious order that employs him. In studying the music of the tunnels, he is forced to reckon with the things that he lacks, and the things that he aches for –…

It’s that wonderful time of year again – Romancing the Gothic, run by the inimitable Doctor Sam Hirst, is raising money for Magic Breakfast, a UK-based charity that provides free breakfasts for hungry school kids across England and Scotland. I am privileged to be a part of the incredible line-up for tomorrow, where you can choose your ticket price to donate as much as you’re able to the cause – and don’t worry if your Saturday is already booked and you’re not able to join online, as all the non-interactive sessions will be recorded and available to peruse afterwards. Some Favourite Jewish Movie Recs
I’ve been having a great deal of fun watching The Pitt recently, it’s been wonderful watching a show that’s so joyful and complex not just in its Jewish characters and storylines, but also in its complex approach to ethics and philosophy within a medical workplace. I definitely understand what they mean about intending it as a spiritual successor to ER, which I’m on Season 6 of my watch-through! I’m obviously really enjoying writing fanfic for the series, as evidenced by the 60k of fic I’ve written in the past month. Michael Robinavitch, who’s a main character and is depicted by…

My Transphobic Uncle Threatened to Kill Me This Weekend
Blog post. I wish this shit was fiction. As you may have seen on my socials, I was visiting my grandfather in Greece and was meant to fly back home tonight, but my uncle flipped his lid, started screaming at me, tried to fight me in the kitchen, blurted out half an hour’s worth of transphobic abuse, and culminated in declaring that it would be easy to kill me, and he would feel fine about doing so. As you can imagine, following this, I went to pack all my bags, lock myself in my bedroom overnight, and then go for…

New Fanfic & Mini Update
Hello, all! I am taking a mini-holiday of sorts at the moment, as I’m currently visiting my grandfather in Greece! I am of course missing Lorenzo and my babies, but the warmer air here is doing absolute wonders for my fucked-up body, and I am spending time with my grandfather’s tubby little tabby, Kaluki and my uncle’s little dog Georgia. Kaluki is naturally quite a timid cat but she’s become a lot more confident with me the past few years, so we’ve been playing string a lot, and she keeps sleeping in bed with me at night. She’s got a…

Experiments in Fudge #2: Cocoa Caramel Fudge
I took the cinnamon fudge with us when we went to see Marty Supreme at the cinema, and it was well-received by both our friends and a homeless gentleman that asked us for money after we came out of the cinema, who also happily had some of it. I added more milk to the recipe because I was adding in more semi-solid ingredients with the caramel and cocoa mix, and I also had a little bit of difficulty whipping it as much as I ought to have done because my body has been so wrecked after going out a few…

Quick poll on readership for my original serials!
Just a mini poll here on which of my original serials you might follow – as in, which ones you go to read whenever I release a new chapter. I’m not including fanfic serials in this poll – all the readers for those are concentrated on Ao3, so it’s easy for me to see how many people are subbed in one place! Links and descriptions are below the poll if you can’t remember a specific name! Some of these serials are on the backburner and I haven’t updated them in a while, but I’m including them in the poll anyway…

Experiments in Fudge: Attempt #1 – Cinnamon Fudge
New categories for recipes in place! Lorenzo’s friend made some fudge recently and L commented how easy it is to make, and I’ve been very frustrated the past few weeks with how little I’ve been able to bake with my hands being the way that they are of recent. We’re still cooking different recipes regularly – most recently I’ve been experimenting with a Vietnamese-style coconut and lemongrass curry in the slow cooker – especially as my new salad spinner has made chopping vegetables much easier, but I’ve not been baking as much. Fudge, at least, doesn’t demand bending down to…

My Favourite Films of 2025
My top watches of the year! 2025 was a really good year for me flicks-wise, and it’s been a great year for film in general — a lot more of my favourites are new releases than usual, and a fair few of them I actually watched in the cinema. I watched 120 films in 2025 — a few were rewatches — and I rated 46 of them 4 stars or more. Here’s the full list on Letterboxd for easy browsing. Boarding School (2018, dir. Boaz Yakin) I fucking adored this film — it’s Problematique, so say the least, but if I’d watched this when I was fourteen or fifteen I…
