Sticky Post: Where Do I Start Reading?
I’ve just found your work and there’s a lot of it, where do I start? Welcome to my website! First off, my name is Johannes (Yo-Han-Ehz) T. Evans. I’m a gay, disabled, transgender man originally from Chepstow in the South of Wales, and I now live in Bradford in West Yorkshire, though for several years before now I lived in Galway, in the west of the Irish Republic. I’ve been writing for years, and you might actually already be familiar with my work – I’ve been on Tumblr under various URLs (before using my own name, JohannesTEvans, I was at…

Disabled Access For Your Events
A guide to providing robust accessibility options for your venue and/or your event, from a disabled man. If you manage a venue or if you run events, accessibility is a great thing to consider. Most venues just include a note about the level of wheelchair accessibility in a given venue, but wheelchair access is more nuanced than someone who’s never used one might expect, and wheelchair-users only make up a small portion of the disabled community. Some people might think, hey, disabled people are a minority of the population, how many people who use chairs or frames really go out…

Movie Review: Victor/Victoria (1982, dir. Blake Edwards)
Had the absolute pleasure of going along to the Pictureville cinema here in Bradford this weekend to watch Victor/Victoria (1982, dir. Blake Edwards) as part of their Widescreen Weekend film festival. It was on my radar for a while, but I’d never gotten around to watching it, and when some friends of mine were going along I booked my ticket to go along with. Victor/Victoria is a remake of the 1933 Viktor und Viktoria — I knew it was widely acclaimed, but it was such an absolute delight, it really was so much better than I even anticipated. It’s a rom-com that…

Meanwood Market, Marketing, & Merchandise
Little blog post here, on how we did at the market, and some marketing thoughts for the future. Went along to Meanwood Market today, which runs on the third Saturday of the month in Meanwood in Leeds, and had a nice time. It was a wonderfully run market, and as a seller in the Leeds area, I absolutely recommend it – really friendly and helpful organisers, very organised and put-together, and in a nice sheltered area from the wind and rain! And as well as my thanks to Leah at Meanwood Market for organising the event and taking some of…

Rescue Dogs: Chapter Twenty-Four
Valorous King visits the Lashton Animal Rescue. Cecil Hobbes, an ex-PE teacher disgraced and looked down on in his hometown, has a new partner: Sir Valorous King, a knight of the realm, once a child of prophecy, and Cecil’s stalker. A few months into their relationship, Cecil finally convinces Valorous to see a therapist, on the condition that Cecil attend one himself. Previous Chapter Full Chapter Directory Next Chapter Valorous had spent a lot of time in his life on public transport. Trains, buses, trams, subways, coaches, carts and rickshaws, walking caravans. It was an easy way to tail someone…

Welcome the new babies: Myrtle and Bertram!
Our new adoptees are one-year-old British shorthairs, and they are menaces. Just a quick update in general, I am currently in the midst of an agonising flare-up of my Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I don’t know if I’ve caught a virus or something or if it’s just a case of chronic fatigue after such an acutely stressful period, but either way, I’m currently sleeping twelve to sixteen hours a day and struggling to do much more than go between bed, bathroom, and meal table most days, which is why writing and updates are so thin on the ground. I’m sorting out some…

Little Devils: Chapter Nine
Fantasy serial. Velma attends a necromancy lecture. Velma Kuroda, a young specialist in magical and enchanted antiques, is taken under the wing of Hamish MacKinnon, a master enchanter and centuries-old immortal — a crotchety old man possessed by a horde of little demons. Previous Chapter Directory of Chapters Next Chapter Hamish had described Doctor Indistinguishable King as “rather sexy, in an untouchable sort of way”, which was confirmation, if confirmation was needed, that the old man was fucking insane. He was laid up in bed at the house – he’d hurt his hip when he’d fainted yesterday, and while it wasn’t broken…

The Lightning Run
Aoife plays an unusual sport. For @flashfictionfridayofficial‘s 15/08 prompt: Lightning Strikes Twice. Featuring Aoife Harkin, Beauregard Horvasse, and Germain Wagner-Jeanneret on a day out. Rated T, 896 words. The field stretched forward near to four hundred yards – a quarter of a mile was the official distance, although this wasn’t a real strike court. Aoife had seen real strike court on television, where each fifty yard span was marked with circles or hexagons lined in the grass or the wood chips. This wasn’t like the official courts. It was just a makeshift field, tattered flags at the end and the beginning…

TomTom’s Passing
He was only with us for a little under six months, but TomTom was beloved in this house, and I know many of you enjoyed hearing about his various exploits, misadventures, and crotchety old man complaints. Unfortunately, he began seizing this morning and then continued to have further episodes, and after bringing him into the vet, they had him put to sleep. He had eaten breakfast this morning and had lots of kisses and snuggles in bed before his fits started, and I held him and kissed him as the vet administered the injection, so rest assured he passed knowing…

“I Haven’t Read a Book in Ten Years.”
I used to read stacks of books: I just can’t any more. How do I start again? It feels shameful. The conversation turns to books and reading. You’re itching to run away. You used to read voraciously as a child and teenager. You’d get through a stack of books a week. What the Hell happened? It used to be so easy. Now you can barely concentrate on a page the whole way through without giving up. I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years back, and I definitely find that I can struggle to really keep my attention on one specific…

New Novel, New Anthology!
Hi, hello, hello! Firstly, BETWEEN THE STACKS, an erotic anthology of various short stories featuring books, readers, and libraries, is now out as an eBook, and the paperback is in the works! Featuring a variety of authors including myself and Achilles King, across a range of stories and vibes. My own short is based off of the fun and sexy vibes in The Music Man, but with Marian the Librarian being a stern old fussy man instead of a pretty young woman. Lots of banter in this one, lots of fun, in a small American town! 20% of proceeds on…

I Am Bad Representation
And I could not care less. Yesterday, I went to my GP and got my testosterone injection administered. It’s an intramuscular injection generally administered to my backside, where the fattier, softer flesh makes the intramuscular penetration of the needle less painful, and also gives it space to settle in the flesh and slowly be assimilated into my endocrine system over time. Every 12 weeks — 3 months — I get this injection administered. I have been on it for about five years. Prior to that, I was on Testogel, a topical form of testosterone where you slather a very strong-smelling slime over your shoulders every…

An Uncommon Betrothal: Chapter Twenty-Two
Final chapter. Alexos and Harry go home. Alexos Fox is of course quite sad when the long-time butler of his household, the man who all but raised him, retires. He is not at all prepared for the old man’s replacement: his exceedingly attractive and painfully tempting nephew, Harry Sutton. Alexos, overcome with feelings that are simply too much to repress, tries his best to avoid him, but it seems that Mr Sutton has more than his employment on his mind as he attends his new employer with keen and concentrated focus. Previous Chapter Directory of Chapters Alexos’ body was, understandably,…

Johannes T. Evans Merchandise Interest
Hello, all! Not a proper update – I am currently abroad in Greece visiting family – but I am going to be selling at the Trans Solidarity Market at Hyde Park Book Club on the 6th July in Leeds in-person, and any new designs will also be made available on my TeePublic store. Are there particular characters, stories, locations, lines, et cetera, that you would like to see referenced or portrayed in merchandise, particularly in badges or stickers? Please let me know in the comments!

Johannes T. Evans’ Irregular Update
Hello, hello! Had a lovely few weeks. As a birthday treat, we went along to Tropical World in Leeds and it was so much fun – I wore a suit with a pirate hat, and when we went by the enclosure for the cotton-tail tamarins, one of them was so baffled by how wide my head was and rushed over to peer at me through the glass, and then was delighted when I took my hat off to show it my head was, in fact, regular-sized. It’s only £9 for a ticket, and honestly, apart from being such a nice…

Johannes T. Evans’ Irregular Update
Hello hello! Not too much by ways of going-ons the past few weeks. I attended an Urban Sketchbook Worshop run by Leeds LGBT+ Community Consortium on Monday 19/05, and they run every month. It’s a nice easy walk around some sunny areas in Leeds, sketching elements of local architecture, and I absolutely recommend it – LLCC run a bunch of different events, and if you’re based in Leeds or Bradford, their calendar might be worth a look! The event was run by Jude Allen of Splodge Blossom Art. Jude is an illustrator and UX designer with a focus on combining…

I’m in the mood for a queer movie…
Some queer movie recs to enjoy this weekend. Got no plans for the weekend? Want to just chill? In the mood to stay inside with the windows open, the sun streaming in, and a fun queer movie on whilst you bedazzle your jeans and stud your sunglasses in preparation for Pride? Here are some recs to get you going. Note that I’m not going to include recommendations I’ve made in the past for I’m just in the mood for a movie with gay (or bi!) dudes or the follow-up, so if you go through this list and it doesn’t feel sufficient,…

New Works & Recs
Good evening! In order, blog stuff about the North Leeds Food Festival, a TomTom update, and some rejigging in our living room; media recommendations, mostly movies; new works published from yours truly. I am mostly not tinkering on the website for the time being, as I’ve got a lot of juice to write with, several pieces on the to-do list, and several publications I’m working to submit to, but your reminder that my commissions are open if this is something you might be interested in! A peaceful enough week this one past – my partner and I went along to…

New Works, Releases, & the Flamingos Coffee House Event
Hello hello! In order below, we’ve got an announcement for a new publication from A Coup of Owls; a charity drive for the Black Trans Travel Fund; Monstrous May and a new work published; some chatter about TV and film this week; and finally, a write-up of the Flamingos Open Mic earlier this week and all the excellent artists there, as well as a video of me reading one of my short stories. Firstly, a new set of dates for the schedule – my fantasy romance novelette, Eyes of Magic, is going to be published by A Coup of Owls…

New Short & General Updates
Hello hello! I have been tinkering away on the website and have made a great many changes and additions, and I’m very pleased with how it’s coming along. The homepage has been altered to show a selection of hand-picked shorts and essays rather than the archives, and I’m thinking I’ll change these out semi-regularly. I have now mostly completed work on the Tags page, meaning that it’s incredibly easy now to browse works by tag. You can click different settings, characters, kinks, or themes, and then you’ll be able to browse through the lists of results. It’s been my long-time…

TeratoCon 2025 Write-up
Had a spectacular time talking monsters at the very first special convention! Yesterday, I had the delightful privilege of attending the very first TeratoCon at the Future Inn in Bristol, an 18+ convention for monster lovers with a special focus on all things monstrous, especially on monsterfucking and monstrous romance! I had an initially bumpy journey getting there, entirely as a result of my own silliness — I came down south from Bradford to stay with my family in Chepstow the day before yesterday on the train, which came with its own issues (no seat on the entire train between Bradford and…

New Website and My Fervent Apologies
Hello, this is Johannes T. Evans. You have apparently just received a great many emails from myself as I set up my new website – I apologise profusely, I’ve been trying to import my back catalogue of works from Patreon, Medium, and elsewhere so they’re readable on the new website, and against all common sense, the default options for posting have been sending email updates directly to everyone in my subscriber lists, also imported from Medium, Patreon, and from my original Buttondown newsletter. If the rapid fire hundred or so emails were not announcement enough, I have a new website.…

Ringing The Devil’s Doorbell: A Light-Hearted, Practical Guide
Let’s talk sex! Vulvar and vaginal stimulation for fun, pleasure, and profit. Originally published on Medium in November, 2021. Content note: this is a reference guide for the stimulation of the vulva and vagina. Throughout this piece there is in-depth discussion of sex and sexual practice, there are diagrams, and there are photographs of vulvas to aid our learning and understanding, not to mention a lot of terribly suggestive fruit. Contents Preface The Anatomy of the Vulva and Vagina: the actual anatomy of the vulva, it and the vagina’s attendant parts, and how everything fits together On Testosterone: the effects of…
